Those parents who want their children to learn "creationism" should send them to private Catholic schools. If the Church wants to promote their viewpoint, let them make their schools affordable.

The rest of us shouldn't have religion masquerading as science shoved down our children's throats.

Actually, oddly enough, the Catholic Church embraces evolution, and while I suspect that intelligent design of some sort is part of their thinking (I can't prove this as it's not something I've looked into specifically, nor do I read of this specific problem in the Catholic school system), it's not particularly overt if it's there. It's more the evangelical Christians that are the problem, and the goal of many of them, pure and simple, is to put God and Christ specifically into as many of our public institutions, schools being top of the list, as they possibly can.

They must be pretty insecure in their faith if they feel the need to force it on everyone else, especially the little ones.

Actually I'm far more inclined to the opposite view of how they see things, i.e. they're so sure of what they believe, so much without doubt that their view is correct, that it wouldn't occur to them that any other would be right, therefore it's totally correct in their perspective that this should be foisted onto kids. Of course they don't see it as foisting anything, and we're talking about someone who doesn't make much of a distinction between their religious faith and science, so it's relatively easy to be simplistic and totalitarian about something like this and not feel the least bit hypocritical or conflicted about it, and that, to me, is what makes them dangerous people.
