I'm Gonna Be a Daddy!

Baby.jpg

The very first picture of Chaneeca! I made up that name, if it's a boy he becomes Chaneeco; when he/she is born they'll get an appropriate Farsi first name.

I'm still a bit in awe about this ... way cool.

Congratulations on the impending new arrival! By the way, you can tell the baby's sex using a DNA test .. (this, from a person who determines the sex of all her parrots using PCR-based DNA tests)

Hedwig: Thanks!

Given that Chaneeca is all of about 8 mm in length right now (but has a heart that sounds like a timbali in a salsa band --- my little Tito Puente!), I think I'll let her/him keep whatever cells we might need for a DNA test --- not to mention that my wife might take exception with the exploratory necessities attendant to getting those cells solely for determining sex. In about six more weeks or so we should be able to see via a sonagram what sort of equipment Chaneeca is packing --- I think we can wait, though I'm definitely curioius, no doubt.

Sam: How sweet! Well, you don't know Feri but to some degree you've gotten to know me and I think there's enough there to be happy for me --- heck, I'd like to think there is! I'm so touched, as I'm sure Feri will be, that you actually cried, in all honesty I'd have to say that I'm a bit awed that you should shed tears; like wow.

Thanks for the congrats!

BG: Thanks! I hadn't noticed that much about babies in other blogs, but then on some level I've been a bit pre-occupied of late. I'm not sure if it means something on any greater level, but I'm all for it at this point!

Trisha: Thanks, and Feri thanks you, too! I'm amazed at how something like this begins to change one's perspective, especially at my age ... wow! is all that comes to mind.

Emily: Thanks! Glad to see you over this way. I need to stop over at Mindsay and say hi, but things have been a bit crazy here of late.

James & Feri,
Very best wishes for all 3 of you. Really. It's joyful news and will change your world. From what I've heard about parenthood, you might want to get some sleep now... *smiles*
Peace and Joy!

Wax: Thanks! We're trying to figure out the changes now, and so far it's surely going to be a different world as life progresses along. You're also right about the sleep ... not sure how we'll deal with that, but then one step at a time!

Bani! I'm very happy you were able to find it. Feri mentioned that the picture was up on the blog and we weren't thinking about your having the address there --- sorry! Anyway, that's your next niece or nephew, hopefully in a few weeks we'll have a new picture tellins us which is which.

Pass my love to everyone!
